We’re excited to share a brand new addition to our studio offering that opens the door to an entirely new group of dancers — tap dancers.

At Castle Hill Dance Studio Hire, we know that finding the right space to train tap can be challenging. Many studios have beautiful timber floors, but understandably don’t allow tap shoes due to the risk of damage. That’s why we’ve invested in a portable, professional-grade tap dancing vinyl, specifically designed to protect our floors while giving tap dancers the sound, response, and safety they need.

Purpose-Built for Tap Dancers

Our new black 2mm thick tap dancing vinyl measures 7.6 metres wide and 4 metres deep, covering approximately 30 square metres. This generous size makes it ideal for:

• Tap classes

• Private lessons

• Rehearsals

• Small group training

• Solo practice sessions

The vinyl has been selected specifically for tap dancing, providing a consistent surface that allows dancers to hear clean, crisp sounds while reducing excessive vibration. Importantly, it sits safely on top of our timber sprung dance floors, meaning dancers still benefit from shock absorption and joint protection underneath.

Tap on a Sprung Floor — Without Compromise

One of the biggest challenges for tap dancers is balancing sound quality with injury prevention. Hard concrete floors can be harsh on joints, while many studios with sprung floors don’t allow tap at all.

Our setup offers the best of both worlds.

The vinyl can be rolled out directly over the sprung floor, creating a stable and tap-friendly surface while maintaining the cushioning dancers need for ankles, knees, hips, and backs. This makes our space ideal for dancers training regularly, returning to tap after a break, or working towards exams, performances, or auditions.
